Serena Williams is a machine when it comes to Tennis, I don’t think there is any Woman more respected than Serena Williams in the tennis world. Her career is phenomenal, winning 12 grand slams (one whilst pregnant as well) Billie Jean described Serena in Time Magazine as: “One of those rare champions who has transcended sports and impacted our society.”

In addition to tennis, she is heavily involved in making a difference in other people’s lives, her work in Kenya and the US stresses the importance of education.

Charlotte Edwards

Charlotte is the reason that Women’s cricket gets the recognition it does today and spends a lot of time with an organisation called Chance to Shine, helping give all children the opportunity to play and learn through cricket.

Aly Raisman has been an inspiration not only to sportswomen but women all over the world. She was brave enough to come forward about the abuse she suffered from Larry Nassar and give evidence in court, despite the emotional toll it took on her.

She also had an amazing career, a two-time Olympian who won six Olympic medals as a member of the US women’s gymnastics teams in 2012 and 2016.

Fu Yuanhui won the hearts of China after her engaging interviews at the 2016 Olympics, but it was her honest interview about being on her period that people loved. Her honesty about not performing at her best due to her period received praise from people all over the world.

It highlighted a topic that is considered “taboo” and got people talking about it more, something that needed to happen, women shouldn’t have to sit in silence.

Nicola Adams

Joshua Anthony and Nicola Adams

Nicola Adams had always had a dream of winning an Olympics gold medal in Boxing, even though when she was younger women’s boxing wasn’t even and Olympic sport. But she carried on with her dream and became the first Woman to win Gold in boxing at the London Olympics. She then went on to retain that gold in the Rio Olympics four years later.

She is a hero to many, an example of never to give up your dream, something the young girls all across the world need.
